FOOTBALLER COMMITTED.

WOMAN'S BODY UNDER HEDGE,

LONDON, August 3. Edwin Manns, a footballer, has been committed for trial for the murder of Mrs. Laura Alice Ryan, who was reported missing for some days, and whose bruised body was discovered in a field outside Christchurch, Hampshire. Mrs. Ryan's husband is at present working on the Sydney tramways. The police read a statement in which Manns was alleged to have said that, enraged at Ryan's threat to tell his wife, because he had refused further demands for money, he hit her on the head with a bottle, throttled her, and rolled her body under a hedge.
