Lady Fcnwick is paying a visit to Auckland. Mr Claude Williams is the guest of Mrs. C. W. Egenon, Brighton Road, Parnell. Miss Studbolme of North Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. ArerilL. Bishopscourt. Mrs. Kenderdine is visiting Whangarei and is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Quigley. Mrs. Bcalc (wife of Commodore Beale, R.N.) is staying at the Midland Hotel, Wellington. Lady Ward was among thoee who left for Sydney 'by the Maunganui on Thursday, accompanied by her son-in-law, Mr. B. B. Wood. They will join Mrs. Wood and her little son in Sydney. Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson, and her daughter were guests •of honour at the Wellington Lyoeum Club on Thursday afternoon. They were welcomed by the president, Mrs. D. C. Bates, and the vice-presidents, and entertained with a musical programme and afternoon tea. Her Excellency has consented to become patron of the club. Princess Arthur of Connaught is a trained hospital nurse and won a muchcoveted prize in open competition for a thesis on a disease of women. ENGAGEMENTS. The engagement is announced of Bessie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Somerville of Onehunga, to Charles, son of Mr. and Mrs. New, of London, England. WEDDINGS. * The wedding was celebrated last week at the Presbyterian Church, Oneljunga, of Mr. Henry Eustace, son of Mr. Charles Eustace, Spring Street, Onehunpii, nn«l Miss Coralie Wills, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Victoria Wills, Onehunga.. Mr. D. Evans gave away the bride and Mr. Tom Bently, Epsom, j filled the role of best man. The bride wore mauve marocain with plu6h hat, and carried a bouquet of pink daphne and pink and blue streamers. The bridesmaid, Miss Rose Wakeling, wore brown velvet with hat to match and carried a shower bouquet of purple and violet. The wedding took place last Wednesday at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland, of Blanche Agatha flogers, only daughter of the late Mr. Charles James Rogers, of Auckland, and widow of the late Mr Fred Morris to Mr. Petar Sumich, eldest son of the late Mr. Nikolo Sumich and Mrs. Nikolo Sumich, of Dalmatia. The bride, who was given away by her brother,. Mr. Cess Rogers, wore ivory French crepe de chine, embroidered with silver beads and pearls, the bodice finished with a spray of orange llossonis The hat was of ivory georgette, with ruffled brim and ostrich trimming, relieved with pink georgette flowers, and a .shower .bouquet of cream liyuftS&fie

and sweet peae, with cream streamers was carried. The matron of honour was Mrs. N. Tolich. She wore apricot silk marocain, with embroidered flowers in j mauve Bilk, and a black hat with apricot flowers. Her bouquet was of violets and apricot-tinted flowers with streamers to match. Miss Pbillis Sunde, Oratia, was 'bridesmaid, and wore lemon taffeta silk, and cream hat with lemon streamer* and blue flower, and carried a bouquet of violets and primroses with streamers attached. The two little flower girls were the Misses Ona Morris and Rona Rogers. The former was daintily dressed in a shell pink pailette silk frock with little rosebuds and pearls, black ' baby velvet rosettes with streamers and rosebuds. Little Rona Rogers was in apricot silk with chiffon and rosebud trimming and rosettes of black baby velvet. Both little bridesmaids wore head bands of silver with leaves and rosebuds, shell pink boas'of tulle, little posies of violets and primroses were carried. Mr. Michael Sumich, brother of bridegroom, was best man; Mr. J. Sunde groomsman. Afterwards a reception was held at "Selsey," Ladies' Mile, Ellerslie, where Mr. and Mrs. Cess. Rogers, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Rogers, received some 60 guests. ROTORUA NOTES. Miss Ann Wilson has returned to Rotorua from Te Puke, and taken up her duties on the nursing staff of King George V. Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Nesbitt, Euera Street, left by Saturday's express for Auckland', where they will join the s.s. Tofua, en route to Fiji, to spend a few months' holiday. At St. Luke's Parish Hall, the St. Luke's Girl's Club organised a successful children's fancy dress party, at which over a hundred- parents, and children were present. The hall had been specially decorated for the occasion with bamboo, clumps of flax,, coloured Japanese lanterns and ferns, and with the various striking and original frocks, presented a gay scene. The judges, who had a difficult task to choose the prize-winners, were Mrs. Cox, of Timaru, and Mrs. Dickerson, of Wellington, and made the following awards:—Best fancy costume, girl under 8 years, first, Jean Webster, as Strawberry;' girl over 8 years, first, Margery Powell, as Chinese Lantern; boy under 8 years, first, Bruce Grove, as Aboriginal; and boy over 8 years, first, Paul Martin, as Scarecrow. Best paper costume for girl under 8 years, first, Nancy Powell, as Lampshade; most original, under 8 years, Kathleen Beale, as Crossword Puzzle; girl over 8, Thelma Horten, as Wedding Bells; most original, over 8, Gladys Dodson, as Xmas Tree. Special prizes, were awarded to Elaine Barriball as Rainbow and Lorna Adams as Wasp. Other striking costumes were: Desmond Fowkes (Father Christmas' Elf), Bruce Christopher (King of the Fairies), Powell (Teddy Bear), Hector Steele (Modern Man), Phyllis Adams (Evening Star, Molly Thompson (Violet), Joan Skelton (Night), P. Dodson (Chinese), Jean Winslade (Dawn), Roma Steele (Pink Rose), Daisy Vernall (Lost Property).. .Between the dances games were played, also recitations and songs by tie children. ■'■•■' _ -I
