NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD.

The New Lynn Town Board met last pvrninsr There were present: Messrs. CF. Gardner (in the chair), H. S. Wilding. E. Stacey, A. Shaw, F.- Roberts, and I. Unauthorised Expenditure.—A letter, was received from the Local Bodies' Association inviting the board to forward a remit to the Municipal Association, eeeking an increase in the amount allowed as unauthorised expenditure by 50 per cent. At present the amount is 1 per. cent of the board's income. No action was taken. Blind Institute Building Fund.—An application for financial assistance -was received on behalf of the above buildina fund, estimated to cost £40,000. The boarS not beinff able to assist out of the district funds, decided to open a. subscription. list. Police Protection. —A communication was received' from the Minister of Justice, the Hon. C. J. Parr, relating to the board's request for better police supervision in the township. The Minister stated that New Lynn was one of a number of places in the Auckland district -where police Btatione would hnve to be erected, and. would receive attention as soon ac the money and men were available. In the meantime the best supervision possible Auckland City Council acknowledged the board's letter.of thp 25tb ult., re the maintenance of detour roads. The question of the maintenance of Totara Avenue nnd Portage Eoad bad been considered, by the Council on.the 6th inst.. and ordered to be received. _ Wattle Street Extension.—Mr. R. E.
