NOT GUILTY.
MRS. COLNETT ACQUITTED.
The retrial of Georgina Ellis Colnett (Mr. Singer) on a charge of having ireed an illegal instrument on a female was concluded before Mr. Justice Reed in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. In his summing up, his Honor said it was clear that an offence had been committed. The jury to be satisfied beyond all doubt that the offence had been committed by the accused. The chief evidence .against the accused was that of an accomplice, and it was a rule that the evidence of an accomplice should be corroborated. The story was an extraordinary one, and it seemed strange for a. woman to consent to perform an operation without there being some arrangement for payment. It would appear that the accused was concealing something. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and the prisoner was discharged.
