OUTSPOKEN TORIES.
WEALTH AND UNDER-DOGS. LUXURY AND UNEMPLOYMENT. MINERS' SMALL WAGES. (By Cable.—(Press Association.—-Copyright-) (Received 2 pan.) LONDON, August 5. During the debate on unemployment in the House of Commons there were remarkable outspoken speeches by young Conservatives. Captain Victor Cazelet, a wealthy Tory back-bencher, and recently an officer in the Life Guards, advocated Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament voluntarily sacrificing 5 per tent of their salaries. Those earning more than 100 per cent sbove the pre-war standard should sacrifice 10 per cent, but this should not apply to miners and agricultural workers who were paid far too little. Dividends should be limited to 5 or 8 per cent on tho present price of shares. Additional profit should be devoted to development. Mr. V. A. Cazelet supported Mr. J. R. Clynes (Labour) in a sharp attack upon luxury spending, but said that an unfortunate man with five or six unmarried daughters may find it economical and not a luxury to give a party, thus husbanding his only resources.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
