WASHINGTON, August 5,
Mr. Henry Ford's bid for 200 ships has been accepted by the United States Shipping Board. Th'ev will be scrapped in seven months'.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) .
Commenting on the proposed sale by the U.S. Shipping Board of 200 vessels to Henry Ford, President Coolidge issued a warning a week ago that junking was the only proper method of dealing with them. The President especially objects to any sale which might result in the ships falling into foreign hands, and becoming competitors with American shipping, or being used" for rum-running.
