DAMAGES FOR COLLISION.
CAR AND MOTOR VAN.
"TOO MANY OF THESE CASES."
An action was brought before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to-day at the Magistrate's Court arising from a collision between a ear and a motor van on the Manukau Road, Epsom.
A. Mephan, settler (Mr. McLiver), sued A. J. W. Davidson (Mr. Findlay) to recover £15 for damages alleged to have been caused by a collision with a motor van belonging to defendant. Plaintiff alleged that the accident was due to the negligence and default of defendant or his agent. This was denied by defendant, who said that after the impact the motor car ran about 60ft along the road before it was pulled up. Mr. Hunt said there were too many of these cases. They had a similar one yesterday. A man should look round a second time to see if the road was clear after starting his car. He must hold defendant responsible. Judgment would be for the plaintiff for £10, with costs.
