INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH.
BRITISH EXPERT'S VISIT,
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star,
DUNEDIN, this day. At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Manufacturers' Association Mr. J. ■W. Collins (Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce) said that the
subject of industrial research was re-
ceiving the close consideration of the Department. It might' be mentioned that the Government had invited Sir Frank Heath. (Secretary to the British Department of Scientific Research) to visit the Dominion to consult as to the organisation necessary to be set up in New Zealand, and as to the need for co-operation in research work of the Empire. Sir Frank Heath would come to the Dominion as the guest of the Government, following a visit he proposed to make to the Commonwealth of Australia. He would leave London about the end of the present month, and should reach New Zealand towards the end of the year. Ample opportunity would be afforded the distinguished visitor to meet industrialists of the Dominion, and he (the speaker) was personally hopeful that Sir Frank Heath would make recommendations for the setting up of a New Zealand organisation dealing jeith industrial research and interchange of publications dealing with the subject from all parts of the Empire.
