ROAD ON CLIFF TOP.
i PROPOSAL AT TAKAPUNA. ' PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION'S ! ACTION. A proposal to form a road along the 'jforeshore from Narrow Neck to Clifton ' was recently submitted to the Takapuna ' Borough Council by the Bayswater and ' Belmont Progressive Association. The ' scheme also provides for a side walk, I band pavilion and children's playground. At a meeting of the Takapuna Coun- | cil last evening, Mr. C. Mackley reported \ that a landowner concerned had been interviewed and had signified his approval ' of the scheme, also stating his willingness to donate a strip of land for the , I council's construction of a road. , j A committee was appointed to inter--11 view other owners of land concerned in j'j the scheme and to carry on general 1 1 negotiations with a view to making [. definite recommendations to the council. I A proposal that the borough engineer . I make a survey of the proposed road and : submit draft plans at the next meeting . of the council, and also that he submit I! estimates as to the cost of the construe- ;, tions of the road, footpaths, etc., was I adopted. . j j The road and walks will be formed >'along-the cliff edge and the erection of -1 houses on the seaward side of the light r j vehicular bitumen track will be pro- > j hibited. A pathway, separated by a I strip of grass, will run parallel with r the main track. Provision has been made for the establishment of an up-to-s date children's playground, a band , rotunda, and the placing of numerous ' seats. Norfolk pines will be planted : along the cliffs. The scheme, which will » cost £6000, will occupy some 110 acres i of land.
