DUMPING OF PIANOS.
MELBOURNE. August 4.
In the course of his evidence in support of an application to the -Tariff Board for a heavy increase in the duty on foreign pianos:, a representative of the Associated Chambers of Manufacturers stated that since the embargo was lifted in German pianos imported into Australia had increased from zero to 46} per cent of the total sales. Unless adequate protection were given to Australian piano-makers the industry was doomed.— (A. and N.Z.)
