f, PRISON BOARD CRITICISED. I (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) , £ DUNEDIN, Tuesday. ft The criminal sittings opened to-day, *efore Mr. Justice Sim. Charles McDonald, an old man, who was declared an iabitual criminal in 1919, was sentenced 4o six months' gaol on each of nine Ipargee of false pretences, sentences to »c cumulative, and was again declared %n habitual criminal. The judge remarked that he could not understand rjvhy the Prisons Board from time to ■ !*ime let out habituals, giving them ; Opportunities for further crime. ■"[ David Louifl Armour Michie, on three Charges of breaking and entering, was Ifdmitted to threa years' probation. (Colin Frederick McDonald, on two yharges of breaking and entering, was , three years' reformative deten- ; ;*ion.
