LIVE STOCK MARKET.
Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., reports: —At our weekly Westfield fat stock market our geef pens contained an increase of 185 on last week's supply. There were 561 head, comprising 246 steers, 312 cowg and heifers and three bulls. The quality generally was first-class. There was a keen demand throughout, with values firm at last week's rates.
Extra choice ox sold to £2 per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £1 17/ to £1 19/; ordinary and plain ox, £1 13/ to £1 16/; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 13/ to £1 17/; ordinary cow beef, £1 8/ to £1 12/: rough beef, £1 1/ to £1 5/. Xo extra heavy prime steers came forward. Heavy prime steers, £15 15/ to £18 2/6; lighter prime steers, £13 10/ to £15 10/; light prime steers, £11 10/ to £13 5/; unfinished and small, £8 15/ to £10 10/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £11 10/ to £13 7/6; heavy - prime young cows and heifers, £9 10/ to £11 5/; lighter, £7 to £9 5/; other killable cows, £5 10/ to £6 15/; bulls, £4 to £9; rough and old cows, £2 10/ to £5; eight extra choice quality steers from Mr. B. Foy, Pukekohe, averaged £17 16/3; eight from Mr. H. Reed, Waerenga, £16 19/7: and a draft of 42 Hawke's Bay steers averaged £16 2/J.
Dalgety and Co., report:—At our weekly Westfleld fat stock market there was a good yarding. Prices were firm at last week's quotations. A line of prime steers from Hawke's Bay averaged £16 1/, and a line of prime cows from the same place went up to £14 2/6 and averaged £14 18/. Extra choice ox sold to £2 per 1001b; choice and prime ox, £3 7/ to £3 9/; ordinary and plain ox, £1 9/ to £1 16/; prime young cow and heifer beef, £1 13/ to £1*17; ordinary cow beef, £1 9/ to £1 12/; rough beef, £1 2/ to £1 8/.
