BOXING.
AT THE TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT. Thn Auckland amnteur provincial championships, under the auspices of the Northern Boxing Association will be commenced nt the Town Hall to-nipht, and continued to-morrow evening. Excellent | entries have been received, and there is ; every promise of boxing of very much above ! the average amateur standc-d being seen, as there has been a boom this year among the boxing schools. It is known that the featherweight class is one of the best the association have had for many years, and many of the lads have already had some experience of appearing in the ring in j public at country centres. Several of tho country centres are sending lads who have j a high locul reputation, and there is every j . probability that they will make things , interesting for the city boys. It has been i decided that the first bout this evening j will start at 7.30, and competitors must bo j at the Town Hall at 6.30 p.m. for weighing and medical examination, otherwise their bouts may be cancelled.
