A WOMAN SHOT AT BISLEY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, May 25. At the moment it is being hotly discussed whether riding astride "is a praiseworthy method for women—there are those who declare it to be so unattractive as to have led to a material dropping out in. the numbers of masculine admirers of women riders in the Row—and au contraire to-day we hear of a fine display at the butts at Bisley by a woman wearing knee breeches, riding boots and a rain coat, in which she might easily have been mistaken on the range for a slender youth. The lady in question, Miss Foster, is a newcomer at Bisley, #nd she promises 'to prove a formidable rival to Miss Williams and. other women shots who have on occasion beaten al* comers at Bisley. Miss Foster made a splendid record on Saturday at a meeting of the National Rifle Association. As a member of the South London Rifle Club she competed in King's Prize first conditions (seven shots at 200, 500 and 600 yards) and scored 100 points and 96 points. .In compiling her century Miss Foster scored six baill's-eyes and an inner at 200 yards, six bull's-eyes and an unlucky outer at 600 yards—lß bull's-eyes with 21 shots. Miss Foster has been doing well as a small-bore shot, but is only iust making her debut with a service rifle. Miss Williams, with 31 at 200 yards and 32 at 500 yards, was Second scorer for the Ibis Rifle Club in the contest for the right to represent tlie City of London.
