Mr. J. ... C. Allum left last evening for Cliristchurch. Mr. W. S. Spence, secretary of the Auckland Racing Club,' and" Mrs. SpenCe, returned from Wellington this morning. New. guests at the Star Hotel are Mr. A. J. Rhodes (Christchurch) and Mr. T. J. Hennessey (Wellington). . Mr. J. A. Betts (Masterton) and Mr. E. H. Sellery (New York)' are at the Grand ■ Hotel. Mr. Kenneth Massey Griffin, M.Sc, A.1.C., of Auckland, is gazetted as gas examiner under the "Board of Trade : (gas) regulations. Sir Edwin Mitchelson, who has been attending the Racing Conference in Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning. Mr. Leo. Whittaker, of Auckland, tbe well "known pianist, who is on a trip to Europe, had just returned to London from Rome when the mail left. He -intends returning to New. Zealand at the end of the year, and on his way home he will spend a month in New York.
