I — FAIR BUSINESS DONE. WAR LOANS BETTER. More disposition was afeown tliis week by investors to put money into New Zealand War Loans, slightly better prices being: offered ror some lines. Soldiers' 54. per cent Loan changed hands at £101 10/, and the 5| per cent inscribed stock, 1927-41, at £08 10/. The 4* per cent loan, 1030, sold at £07 5/, and the 41 per cent, 1038, both bond and inscribed stock, at £07. The 5 per cent loan, 1027, were inquired for at £98 2/6. Sales took place of Auckland Power Board debentures at £06 10/, and Milne and Choycc debentures could be got Tor £07. The Auckland Harbour Board 6 per cent debentures continue to be wanted at £102, but the sellers hold lor an extra 30/. Banking- Corporation stocks are still in fair demand. Bank of New South Wales shares sold at £4 1 10/ during the week. Several transactions took place in Bank of New Zealand shares at 57/, and Union Bank of Australia are now wanted at £14 17/6. Buyers came in Tor Commercial Bank ordinary issue at 30/, but no sales resulted. Mew Zealand Insurance shares firmed this week as soon as the announcement was published of the directors' recommendations or a iOfl dividend, also the proposal to transfer £150,000 rrom the reserve fund to the capital account and increase the latter to £1,050,000. Sales or this line took place up to 34/6. South British Insurance eased slightly, being sold at 40/6, at which rate more were wanted. National Insurance could be placed at 77/6, and Standards are in request at 44/6. More attention was paid to shares in timber companies this week. Nationals sold at 22/3, Bartholomew at 21/0, and Kauri at 33/3, 33/6 and 33/3. L.0.8. Timber shares firmed a little, buyers now offering 55/6, but as usual no selling rate was quoted. Auckland Gas shares Improved a little, ordinary issue sold rrom 23/3 "to 23/6. and the contributing: at 6/5 ana C/ 0. Northern S learn Company's shares had further sales at 15/3, but Huddart-Parker Steam eased a little, sales being recorded at 45/ and 44/0. Dominion Rubber shares improved a little, being now wanted at 35/6, after transactions at 35/ earlier in the week, Goldsbroug-h Mort, Ltd., shares had sales at 45/6, and yesterday buyers offered 40/3. Business continues to be done in New Zealand Breweries at 4 1/, and quite a lot of transactions took place in the debenture stocks at 21/11 and 22/. Dalgety, Ltd., had ■sales at £14 15/, and buyers still offer 2/6 under that llgure. Wilson's Cement advanced a little this week, the latest sale being at 33/6, a rise of threepence. New Zealand Farmers' Fertilizer shares sold and are still wanted at 90/, and Kaiapoi Woollen, after selling- at 12/9, are not now aslAd ror. Buyers, however, still, offer £6 1/ ror both issues of Wellington Woollen. Union Oil and Candle. Company's shares maintained last week's advance, being still wanted at 36/, with no quoted sellers. Sales took place of Bycroft, Ltd., at 20/0, arter which buyers offered 26/. Gear- Moat, Ltd., were offered at the .third call yesterday at 4 3/6, but no buyer quoted. Taranaki Oil shares are offered at 2-2/, but to-day buyers would not quote above 20/9. Mining shares showed comparatively no change from the position a week ago, Kawarau shares are wanted at 14/6, with no sellers quoting:. Wailii shares changed hands at 26/3 yesterday arternoon.
