LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
NEW ZEALAND UNION. (P.y Tclcsraou --Fress WELLINGTON, Thursday. A conference of delegates from various branches of the League of Nations Union was held to-day. Professor Condliffe, of Christchurch, presided. Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Gisborne, Opunake, Masterton and Wellington were, represented. Mrs. K. M. Evans was appointed secretary. After hearing a report by the secretary, delegates spoke- in turn on the progress of their own particular branches. On the motion of Dr. Gibb, amendments to the constitution were made, and the organisation is to be known in future as the. League oi Nations Inion of Neiv Zealand. The conference amended the constitution of the union with the. object to ensure Xew Zealand people's acceptance dian and arbiter. The Dominion remit was carried urging on the Government that at. the next and succeeding assemblies of the League of Nations New Zealand should be fully represented by a delegation outside the High Commissioner, composed of persons resident in New Zealand, and that one of the three bo a woman. Mrs. Carmalt Jones (now visiting Europe) was named as a suitable representative. The executive headquarters will be Dunedin for the ensuing 12 months. The conference has concluded.
