Miss Elizabeth Lislp. aged 104 years, London's oldest inhabitant, who was presented to Queen Victoria 80 years ago, died in her sleep. She met many lDth century notabilities, including Dickens, Newman, Disraeli, and Browning. She often appeared publicly as an elocutionist. She repeated the long passages of "Hamlet" after her 100 th birthday. She refused to be treated as an invalid, and declared: "I've lived longer than most modern girls will with their lipsticks and powder pufFs." She scorned their short skirts, cigarettes and paint and powder.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
