APPOINTMENT OF GOVERNOR. LONDON, May 28. Sir Edward Grigg has been appointed Governor of Kenya in succession to Sir Robert Coryndon.— (Reuter.)

Sir Edward Grigg is M.P. for Oldham. He has been secretary to the Rhodes Trustees for the past two rears. He married in 1923 the Hon. Joan Dickson Poynder Dickson, the only child of Lord Islington, an ex-Governor of New Zealand. Educated at Winchester and New College, Oxford, he joined the editorial staff of the "Times" in 1003, and was assistant editor of the "Outlook" from 1905-06. He joined the Grenadier Guards in 1914, and was military secretary to the Prince of Wales in" 1919, during his Royal Highness' tour of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In 1921 he relinquished his commission with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, and was private secretary to Mr. Lloyd George until 1922. He is 46 years of age.
