MORE HIGH PRICES. COW BRINGS 505 GUIXEAS. A very successful sale of pedigree Jerseys owned by Mr. E. Griffith was held at Fcncourt. Cambridge, yesterday. It was very largely attended by buyers and enthusiasts who came from all parts of New Zealand. Before tlie sale the bulls were paraded, the famous herd sire Clarion comingj in for a lot o£ praise. Mr. Geo. McCullagh of the F.A.C. was auctioneer. Bidding was nearlj- always brisk, and interest was intense when the imported | coys were in the ring. I .Sybil's Gypsy, the well-known prize i cow from the Island of Jersey, brought ■ top price. Bidding started at 200 ' guineas, and rapidly rose to 400. where , it stood awhile, then went in tens to; 500, when Mr. V. W. Cornwell, of Oak- ! lands, Xew Plymouth, went anotlier o ' and secured the animal for a record I price of £530 5/. Another imported tow, ■ Bond's Oxford Victress a five-year-old, ] realised 410 guineas, going to Mr. A. C. : Lovelock, of YVoodville. Goodwood ' Golden Blonde (imp), a fine heifer, went' for 310 guineas to Mr. L. Sampsen Fencourt. Mears Bros., Walton, secured ' an imported keifer, Goodwood Ruby, for ! 200 guineas. Boville Bros., Tamahere, paid 150 guineas for Cidiline (imp). \V. J. Hall Matatoke, bought Xenia | Ruby (imp.), a five-year-old cow, for j 110 guineas. Messrs. G. U. and 11. I Hutchinson, Auckland, got Viola's Peer- j less for 110 guineas, and W. If. Water-1 liouse, Runciman, paid 100 guineas for | Do3'ana (imp.), a very pretty five-year-old cow. The herd sire, Clarion, went to Taranaki for 270 guineas. Mr. Truby King (Stratford) being the buyer.
