A NEW PARTY.

MR. ALLEN BELL'S VIEW. LOOKIXG TO MR. COATES. (By Telegrapli.— Special to "Star. "I i T\"ELT.IXGTON\ this day. 1 "What I would like to see in a new • party formed," declared Mr. A. Bell (Buy ' of Island?), the Independent member who has supported the late Government lon no confidence motion", lie was about ■to attend the leadership caucus, and ; looked forward to seeing Mr. Conies ■ becoming Prime Minister. "1 believe that 1 Mr. L'oates is a man not tied to old party traditions nml usages and that lie will do what he thinks right, ami go ' straight for it. If ho makes a mistake, ; and people do nol. approve, he is I lie : sort of man who won't whine afterwards. 1 I hope he will go for a fusion (if the best elements of existing parties, which is J what I personally advocate. If the politicians will not do it this week the people will do it at the general election. • They will demand that we should not go ' hack to the old threepartv system. Some ~ of the older politicians may puffer if they persist in maintaining the existing ' position, but that will be the fortune of I war. The only thing we have to consider is the fight against the growing forre of communism. The best organised force politically in the country, they are always at work. We cannot, get where r we want with three parties in the field. ! so we must have the division of those who are for Communism and those against it. That is the only remaining 1 dividing linn so fur as I mi) concerned. ' I believe Mr. Coates is the man from s whom we have the best chance of bringing the sane elements together, and that J is the opinion I shall express at the ] caucus without reservation in any shape ,or form. Personally I have no interest in party politics as they have existed. My hobby has been development of iho country. I regard the old party system as simply humbug.
