Completing the local portion of her discharge at the Prince's wharf at noon yesterday, the Canadian Government steamer Canadian Traveller went to an anchorage in the strenm. Owing to vacancies in her crew she did not leave this port until this morning for Southern ports, to complete discharge, and to load for her return trip. The Canadian Traveller is due back at Auckland at the end of the month to fill up for New York, Boston, and Montreal. I THE CORINTHIC'S PASSENGERS. NAVUA'S MOVEMENTS. At present relieving the Tofua in the Island service, the Union Company's steamer A'avua arrived at Apia on Saturday evening from Vavait. She was to leave Apia to-day for Suva whence she is announced to sail on Saturday next for Auckland. She is due here about Wednesday. PORT VICTOR TO-MOKROW. From London, which port she cleared on April 4, the Commonwealth ami Dominion Line steamer I'ort Victor is due to arrive ut Auckland tit 11 o'clock to-morrow morning. After inspection in the stream she will berth, probably at the Queen's wharf, to unload part cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Carrying New Zealand produce for London, the Shaw, Snvlll and Albion Line steamers Maimoa and Mataknna are reported as arriving at Montevideo on Monday last. The Mnimoa cleared Lyttelton on April 20 for London and Hamburg, and was followed the following day by the Matakana from Wellington for London, via -Montevideo. TJLIMAROA FROM SYDNEY. After a stormy trip from Sydney, the Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa arrived at Auckland this afternoon, and after pratique had been granted berthed at the eastern side o£ the Queen's wharf. She left Sydney on Friday afternoon and encountered fierce easterly winds und heavy seas for the greater part of the run. On Friday next she is to leave here on her return trip. CLANSMAN'S TIME-TABLE. The Northern Company advise that the Clansman will leave Auckland at 4 p.m. to-day for Russell and Opua, and is due back here ou Saturday morning as usual. In future this steamer is to leave Auckland every Tuesday at G p.m. sharp. This alteration in the vessel's sailing time is to facilitate the handling at Opua of cargo to be loaded on to the train leaving there at 0.15 a.in. on Wednesdays. LAMB STEAMER OMAN A. With the improvement in flic weather, the Lamb steamer Omana commenced cargo operations at tne Central wharf this morning. On completion of discharge of her cargo from Sydney she is to load timber lor Sydney, and w"ill nil up on the coast. After discharging at Sydney, she is to proceed to Newcastle to load coal and hardwood for Tauranga. TORT MELBOURNE AT COLON. On her way from London to Auckland via Suva, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Melbourne arrived at Colon on May 11, and continued her voyage the following day. She is due here during the first week in June, and is to proceed hence to Lyttelton and New Plymouth to complete discharge The vessel is to load for her return trip towards the end of .Tune, and is to sail fiuallv for London about the middle of July. WEST NILUS REPORTED. Carrying G65.000ft of lumber, 13,000 eases of gasoline, and 420 tons of general cargo for this port, the Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Nilus has reported by wireless that she will arrive at Auckland from San Francisco at 3 o'clock to-morrow portion of her cargo, probably at the Prince's wharf, she is to proceed to Lvttelton, Dunedin. Adelaide, and Sydney "to put out the balance. Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane are the local agents. FROM WEST OF ENGLAND. Laden with general cargo, the New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Rimutaka is to leave Liverpool on May 30 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Dorset will follow on June 13 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin nnd New Plymouth. The Hurunui is to sail on June 27 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton acd Dunedin. The Kent is to sail on .Tulv 11, nrd the Tasmania on August S for Now Zealand ports not yet announced. JAPANESE SHIPBUILDING. Nine huge liners are to be built by Japan in the next two years to be added to the Japanese fleet plying in the trans-Pncitie trade between Seattle and the Far East. The cost of the fleet was estimated at 27.5n0,000 dollars. The Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line has planned to construct (ire 3;">,000-ton liners, while the Japanese Government has drafted a bill to build four 17.000-ton vessels. The Government has planned to merge the Nippon and Toyo Kisen Kaisha lines. A Government -subsidy of the latter company is expected to be terminated at the end of the next fiscal year. CATHAY IN AUSTRALIA. On her maiden voyage from London, the new P. and <). liner Cathay is now in Australian waters. The vessel is one of the three new liners, each of 1.1.000 tons, -which are being commissioned to bring the I. and O. Co.'s fleet up to its . pre-war strength. The other steamers are theComorln and the Chitral, which are now being built. The Cathay carries only 203 first saloon and 10:j second saloon passengers, so that it is possible to give each passenger a great amount of freedom. The cabins are large and airy, nnd many of them have only one berth.
