AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB.

THE AUTUMN MEETING. j PROGRAMME FOR THE FIRST DAY. I The autumn meeting of the Avondale TockeT Club will be opened to-morrow and continued on Monday, and. given A ne weather.,there should be some intertin- racing, for good fields are en- j 2!t? e(1 - Ml •»_ The programme will commence with the Maiden Plate" Handicap, for which ]4 horses are carded. Te Monanui, which , heads the list, ran a couple of seconds a t Takapuna, while Lady Cintra -was placed on two occasions at Rotorua, and Adornment ran similarly at the Dargaville fixture. Probably they will be sup- j ported in the above order. ■ The Hobsonville Hurdle Race has at- | tracted a pood field, and should result in a good contest. Peter Amans, after his success in the Brighton Hurdles, is sure to have friends, and he should give j _ crood account of himself with 10. S. : Mia Bella ran well in the same event, while Highway and Karamu will probably be improved as the result of their efforts at Ellerslie. When the machine | closes the public may possibly, select ; Peter Amans. Karamu and Mia, Bella to carry most of their money. Surveyor has 9.13 in the Foley Memorial Handicap, or Gib more than the impost he carried in the A.R-C. I Autumn Handicap last Monday, which j was two furlongs further than to- j morrow's race. He is not harshly treated, and must be given a show. Royal Present went well in the Autumn j Handicap at Ellerslie, finishing second to Surveyor with 5.3, and he is sure to bo one of the popular fancies. Tresillian won the Rotorua Cup and the Ohinejnuri Cup this season, and can see out the distance all right. Glen Canny looks as though he is coming back to : 'form, judging by his efforts at Ellerslie. and he will not be neglected. Gala Day also ran well at the same fixture, and should be troublesome over a mile and a quarter. When the final figures are adjusted, Gala Day. Royal Present and Tresillian may be the order of selectionIn the Oakley Hack Handicap 15 stand their ground, and Gay Comet heads the list with 9.0, but he has been racing very consistently recently and is sure to "have support- Royal Form is also a •rood sort, while Sans Gene and Cureafonn are a pair lower down that will not be -without friends. Perhaps when the totalisator closes Royal Form, Cureaform and Sans Gene will be the order of betting. The All Aged. Stakes (six; furlongs) contains some smart sprinters, and no doubt betting will take a wide range. Reremoana and Deluge head the list with 9.10. They are a brilliant pair, and even with 9-10 they arc sure to be | hard to dispose of. Tamatete has already dead-heated for first place in the I event, and last year was ihird to Glen- j train. With him is coupled Tukia, and | the bracket is sure to carry a fair j amount of money. Royal Blood, with | 9.5, will not lack for friends, for when j at his best he is one of the speediest | horses in the Dominion over a short i course. King Merv is a good sprinter, while among those lower down Bally - moy, which has 171b allowance, will be fancied. Probably Deluge, Royal Blood, and Ballymoy will be most sought after. The Chevalier Hack Handicap has been divided into two divisions. The totalisator will only be opened once for the both divisions, and, therefore, investment for each division will have to be made before the first division is run. The matter is clearly explained in the official race card. . In the. first division Cawnpore and Archibald will probably have most support, while General Pryde and King Pot may carry most money in the second. The.Railway Handicap will cause the public some thought, for there are a number of good horses engaged. Tukia won over seven furlongs at Ellerslie, while Broadwood was third in the Easter Handicap, second in the Stewards' Handicap, and won the Huia Handicap from a good field. With 8.12 he will have support. Finelli ran well over seven furlongs at Ellerslie. Master Doon, Charlady and York Abbey may appeal most of those lower down. When the machine closes, probably Broadwood, Tukia and Master Doon will carry most money. The day's sport will conclude with" the Titirangi Welter Handicap, and Desert Glow, Steel Bar and Right and Left may be most fancied. There will be a frequent train sen-ice to the course.
