MAORI MEMORIAL.
♦ ___ UNVEILED AT TE PEKA. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) TAUMARUNUL this day. There was a large gathering of natives at Te. Peka pa yesterday for the unveiling of a memorial to the late Te Mahuri Te. Rauraba, who was tho last, descendant of an ancient and prominent Maori family. Much disappointment was expressed owing to tlie unavoidable absence of Sir Maui Pomare. There were some 27 tribes present. The unveiling ceremony was performed by Piupiu Te Wherowhero, a cousin of Te Rata, Mahuta, the Maori king. It was very impressive, and carried out in accordance wth Maori customs. Many distinguished Maoris were* present.
