I Ihe union has done nothing for me—see where it has landed mc!" was the aggrieved remark of a man in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when proceeded against on a judgment summons by the Birkenhead Sugar Worl-g Employees' Union (Mr. S. R. Mason) for £2 7/0, outstanding union fees Debtor said he had worked for the company for 17 years, and had no need to join the union, but had done so "for the sake of peace and quietness." Counsel stated that- debtor apparently had a grudge against the union. He -was not now on the register. Debtor said he would borrow the amount claimed, and ! pay it into Court. The magistrate i accepted the offer, and ordered debtor !to pay 4/ per month off other dues arising as a result of the proceedings.
