CANTERBURY MARKETS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The position regarding wheat is one of stalemate. Growers are not accepting the price and millers are not showing , much activity in securing further supplies. Lines offered are being taken at schedule prices, but are mostly small lots. The ont market is the same as last work. There is very little buying at the easier figures. Quotations are 4/0 to 4/1 for A and B grades, f.o.b. Chaff in easier in sympathy with oats. Quotations ujie up to £3 12/0 a ton on trucks. Potatoes are meeting with a dull market, and a few purchases . have taken place as low as £4 15/, f.o.b. The Navua took 2000 packs for Auckland on Saturday and the Wanaka is due to sail to-night. It is reported that one operator intends "trying out" the Sydney market when the price apparently presents a margin for export. Quotations to farmers arc £3 10/, but very few are offering at that figure. Digging has been temporarily suspended except for orders.
