COLLIERIES CLOSE.
120 BRITISH PITS IDLE. 25,000 MINERS ON DOLE. (Received lO.fiO a.m.) LONDON, April 7. The "Daily Mail" says that 120 British collieries were closed during the past three months, reducing the output 5,000,000 tons. ' j They are closed owing to the high cost! of production, crippling taxation, and j German competition. Twenty-five thousand Bhondda miners are drawing doles.— ("Sun.")
