ANGLICAN ARCHBISHOP.
HEADQUARTERS AT AUCKLAND.
On April 20, Dr. Julius, the present Anglican Archbishop of New Zealand, will vacate the Bishopric of Christchurch, and with it the office of Archbishop. Dr. A. W. Averill, Bishop of Auckland, will therefore, in accordance with the decision of the General Synod last February, become Primate and Archbishop of New Zealand on the 21st of this month. The office of Primate is a movable one, therefore the headquarters will be in Auckland as it was when the late Bishop Cowie filled the position. A proposal to centralise the office in Wellington was defeated two years ago. It has been decided by the standing committee that on the morning of. April 21, there shall be Communion service in every church of the diocese, and in the evening a reception is to be held at the Town Hall.
