DEATH AT DEVONPORT.
THE DEPUTY-MAYOR,
The death occurred, suddenly, at Devonport. this morning, of Mr. S. "\\ . Luxforcl, Deputy-Mayor of the Borough. It was oniy last week that Mr. Luxford agreed to 'stand as a candidate for the Mayoralty of Devonport. He has been associated with the district for a number of years, and his death came as a great shock to the residents.
Mr. Lnxford became a member of the Devonport Borough Council in April, 1919. He was chairman of the Works llml Services Committees, and also of the Fire Brigade Committee, besides being a Sinking Fund Commissioner, and Deputy-Mayor.
Prior, to going to Devonport. Mr. Luxford was a member of the Palmerston North Council for a number of years, and was also on the Kairanga County Council.
