DINGOES V. LIONS.
EX-M.HJR. SEEKS ADVENTURE. SYDNEY, March 10. Among the passengers who sailed by the Theinistocles was Captain Arnold Wienhold, former M.H.R. for Moreton (Queensland). He is going to Portuguese West Africa to hunt lions in the country of the Maquengo bushmen for the rest of this year. This is one of the wildest parts of all Africa, quite untouched by civilisation. Captain Wienhold will spend several months among the bushmen. He is taking four blue Australian cattle dogs, from the Queensland bu=h country, which he hopes to train as lion hunters. These animals have a stron" dingo strain. Their introduction to Africa is a new experiment, but Captain Wienhold is confident that the Australian dingo will be more than a laatcii for the African lion. Captain Wienhold has already spent several lion-hunting winters in Africa. He hopes to return at the beginning o f next year with many trophies of°the chase.
