City Council meets to-night. Annual meeting of the Victoria League at the Arts Society's building to-night. The world-famous Madame Tussand's \\ axworks in London were destroyed by firo yesterday. Governor-General entertained at luncheon to-day by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. The Eona radios that she will arrive to-morrow morning from Fiji with a. cargo of raw sugar. The West Cahokia is due to-morrow from Los Angeles with case oil, timber and general cargo. A consignment of over 23,000 poppies have arrived in Auckland from France for sale on Poppy Day, April 24. Millions of people are on short rations, in Russia, and food riots are occurring in Leningrad and other large cities. The Governor-General will visit the Jubilee Institute for the Blind to-mor-row afternoon and address the inmates. Creditors of Arthur Leopold Raven, whose proved debts total £1750, met this morning. Steps were taken to realise the available assets. Two young men found guilty this morning of the theft of a bar o£ pig lead, one going to gaol for 14 days, and the other being admitted to probation. The danger of too much leniency towards stowaways was emphasised by a deputation from the Southern Cross League to the Minister of Justice today. Ulimaroa sails on her return to Sydney at 11 a.m. to-morrow. The Marama arrives at Wellington from Sydney tomorrow afternoon and sails again on Saturday. After making a bad start the previous day the Victorian cricketers disposed of Manawatu cheaply in the second innings yesterday, and won by; nine wickets. ° The Auckland All Blacks were welcomed by a large crowd at the railway station on their arrival this morning, and were later officially welcomed home at the Town Hall. An ex-prince of a German royal house, Alexander Hohenlohe Oehringen, ragged and destitute, has been found by the police sleeping on a park seat in Budapest. He is to be deported.
