TREATMENT OF CANCER. TRANSMUTATION OF METAL. (Received 2 p.m.) PARIS, March 18. The Uniersity is installing a generator with unprecedented power, producing a direct current of 600,000 volts for the purpose of creating radio active rays for the treatment of cancer. It is also experimenting with breaking up of the gold atom, enabling the absorp•tion of Alpha particles, whereby they are converted into mercury, which is then retransmitted into gold.— (A. and N.Z.
