TAKAPUNA'S NEW WELL.
QUALITY OF THE WATER. A SATISFACTORY REPORT. The quality of the water obtained from a. well situated on a property recently secured by the Takapuna Borough Council, was the subject of a report received by tlie latter body from the Government Bacteriologist last evening. An analysis of a sample of the water showed an entire absence of bacillus coli in 100 c.c. In view of the fact that the sample was taken during fine weather, the bacteriologist suggested that another examination be made after several days' rain. In forwarding the above report, the medical officer of health mentioned that from a bacteriological standpoint tile report was a very satisfactory one. The Takapuna Council has been boring for water for some time and recent results indicate that a permanent supply has been secured. If the well, which is situated on a property off the Wairau Road, comes up to expectations, the borough will be independent of the iaku for its water supply. A site on Crown Hill has been, purchased for the erection of a reservoir.
