CROWN LANDS.
MATTER OF BAIXOTS. MEN""-WITH CHILDREN FIRST. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Minister of Lands proposes in future to deal with all land ballots in the order of preference prescribed by the Land Act. The applicants to rank first are landless men with one or more children dependent on them, then landless applicants who have failed twice at previous ballots, then returned soldiers, and after them men with military service beyond New Zealand. Of other applicants landless persons "will have preference. Some 22.000 acres of Crown land will be offered this month.
