VOLUMNIA TROUBLE.
m __ TALLY CLERKS REFUSE DUTY. THE RIVAL UNIONS. STILL '" BLACK.' , (By Cable.—rress Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11 a.m.i Si'DNEI", this day. A slight hitch occurred during tha unloading of the Volumnia. The tally clerks declined to continue work in view of the attitude adopted towards the vessel by the maritime unions. After a little delay, four returned soldiers replaced them, and work proceeded smoothly. A largely attended meeting of the Trolley, Draymen's, and Motor Drivers' Union passed a resolution endorsing the action of the Seamen's Union and Watersiders' Federation in declaring the Volumnia '"black.' . It was decided not to remove the cargo at present being unloaded from the vessel by the Returned Soldiers' Union. According to the official statement, members of the Returned Solders' Union are prepared to meet any exigency which may be the outcome of the present situation. They are determined that no obstacle be placed in the way of having the cargo unloaded and taken to various ports of destination. The union therefore decided, if occasion demanded it. to provide the necessary conveyances to remove the cargo and man the vessels to take cargo to other States.— (A. and N..)
