KURANUI.

The manager reports that development work on the nortb-east trend of the reef has been continued, the drive being now in eigrht feet from the crosscut. The reef maintains its width of about 3ft, the quart being of a friable nature, heavily oxidised, and shows gold in the stone occasionally, and may make specimens at any time. He finds that the slide is approximately 150 ft ahead of the present face, bo there is ample room for a good run of gold to be met with as the drive is extended on its present course. The point where the reef is beingworked Is about 130 ft from the surface, fo good backs will be available for sloping out in the future.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Zeehan Consolidated.—The superintendent, reporting for the week ending February 2S. states that the drive south on the Zeehan reef at No. 5 level was advanced nine feet. The reef is about three feet wide, carrying fine particles of galena and zinc blends. Water is still flowing freely from the footwall portion of the reef. The drive on the north break was advanced nine feet, and when firing the last round of the holes a band of heavy galena ore was exposed, which is probably another portion of the northern continuation of the Zeehan reef, as its course coincides with the reef at No. 4 level. In the stope on the Zeehan reef in the intermediate above No. r> level good ore has been exposed, awaiting either shipment or treatment. The export value of the gold and silver content in the ore and concentrates forwarded to Europe recently was £15 13/4 pee ton for the quartz, and £27 6/11 per ton for the concentrates, as per the Customs assay certificate of the Director of the Thames School of Mines. The value of the lead, copper and zinc content in that shipment is now being determined at Thames

New Waiotahi.—The mine manager reports that owing to the stoppage of tht Borough Council"s drainage pump for Inspection purposes the water has flooded the drive from the bottom of the winze, so the men have started stoping on the reef from the intermediate drive, and a few pieces of picked stone have beea selected from the quartz broken.

Majestic.—The mine manager reportl that the contractors for driving the Marototo low level southward on the MarototO reei. Jiave driven 25 feet, making a total of 456 feet from the main crosscut. The reef is 5 feet in width and is composed of hard mineralised stone with seams of sulphide, carrying a considerable amount of water. In the Pay Rock section the crosscut has been extended 31 feet, making a total of 49 feet. The country is of a hard mineralised nature, with quartz stringers crossing the face.

OhinemurL—The mine manager reports that during the past fortnight the South drive on the Camoola reef has been extended 34 feet, making a total distance south of the Silverstream crosscut of 1294 feet. During the past week a vein two feet wide came in from rhe western side of the drive, as a result of which progress has been considerably retarded by the inrush oC ■water, -which is having the effect of draining No. 2 level. The vein is, no doubt, part of the Camoola system, and as soon as the drive has bepn extended by this intrusion a crosscut will be put out to locate the main body, of which the hanjrinewall is in hand. The water encountered is the first seen in the whole course of driving in this level.
