MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
A large and representative deputation of electors from various parts of the city waited upon -Mr. M. ,1. Coyle last evening and requested him to allow himself to he nominated as a candidate for the forthcoming City Council election. Mr. 1". G. Rose presented a petition, which contained the signatures of over 1500 electors, and referred to Mr. Coyle's public spirit, and the good service lie had rendered as late Mayor of Mount Albert, and chairman of the Hospital Hoard. Messrs. ,T. .1. A. Edgar and W. .1. McMillan and others strongly urged Mr. Coyle to accept nomination, and promised to use every effort to secure his return.
Mr. Coyle, in reply, informed the deputation that his circumstances were such that, if elected, he would devote his time in the interest of Greater Auckland, therefore he would he pleased to accede to their request, lie stated also that he stood for a progressive policy consistent with sound finance.
