MR. W. N, GILLIES. (Received 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Tlie Labour party elected Mr. W. N. Gillies Premier in succession to Mr. E. G. Theodore, who has resigned. Mr. Gillies was previously Minister of Agriculture. — (A. and N.Z. Cable,) Mr. Gillies was a farmer and sugar grower in N.S.W., and was president of the N.S.W. Sugar Defence League. He selected land at Atherton, North Queensland, and became M.L.A. for Eacham in 1912. He was Minister of Justice in 1918.
