. „ ! AN EXCAVATION PROPOSAL. • (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) , j HAMILTON, this day. A proposal to excavvate Garden Place ' Hill for the purpose of forming a civic square as proposed by the assistant •borough engineer, was considered by a committee of the borough council, who reported last night that they approved the general proposal but, before dealing with the matter further, recommended . that the council obtain an opinion on ' the values of the lands to be purchased, and the estimated values when the work is completed. Mr. J. McKinnon asked if the borough engineer's opinion had been obtained as to the engineering difficulties of the I scheme.
