CABLE COMPANIES.

A PROPOSED ASSOCIATION. LONDON, February 6. The "Financial Times" announces that the principal submarine cable companies, British and others, arc forming an association on similar lines to the Railway Companies' Association. The new- organisation will deal with matters of common interest, to its members. There is no intention that it should in any way become an amalgamation or trust. The scheme has not yet. advanced sufficiently far to enable the companies concerned in it to lie named, but the paper says it is understood that Mr. Krank Brown, who has just, retired from the position of a-ssistant-secretary to the Government cable and wireless services, has heen appointed adviser to the association. — (A. and N.Z.
