MRS. MARGARET RAE. , I f last links with the early pioneering .lays of Katikati xvas severed by the passing away on Tuesday last of Airs Margaret Rue, al the residence of her daughter. Mrs fctanaway. Horotiil. The lute Mrs. Rae. xvith her husband and four children, came out to Nexv Zealand in IS7."> xvith the first batch m" settlers under the late Mr. 11. Yesey Stewart, founder of the Katikaii settlement. Throughout the liftV veins since arrival in llie country the' dccea.se,l lady resided al. Katikati. and ii is believed she uas the last ot the band of original adults who took , part in the building of the settlement. The late Mrs. Rae. by her sterling qualities, kindly disposition and readiI ness to vender help and advice, enj dearcd herself to all xvho knew her. Her husband predeceased her 12 years a"0. She leaves four daughters and two sons.
