The. murder of Private Cyril Francis I Cromer, of Otago, a soldier in the army .of occupation, by the Germans, details |of which have been published in the ' i cabled reports, was referred to by 5Jr. I E. J. Anderson last, night at. a meeting of the executive, of the Returned Soldiers' Association. He- said there was evidence in Dunedin thai might be u?e----j fill at the trial of this Htvn. The asso- ! ciation should make it possible to give _ I this evidence to the British Court. They should let the Minister of Defence know I that the act was seen, and arrange with i him to have the evidence taken before a commission and forwarded to the right quarter. A local man apparently stood alongside Cromer, and could supply strong corroborative statements. If they could secure evidence that would I cause tliis German to he placed against a wall and shot it was their duty to send ii on. It was agreed that Mr. Anderson and the secretary interview the witness anr 1 semi a report to Ihe Minister.
