FURTHER LOAN NEEDED. ' OITf'ALL PIPK SHOiITKNKD. \ Most of the Northcote drainage loan < of £120.000 has been exhausted. A further substantial amount is required ] to complete the installation. The town I eierk suggested to the Horough Council ' hist evening that the poll 011 the pro- , I posal to raise a further drainage loan ' be proceeded xvilh as early as possible. ' There xvas little left in the loan account. ' and if f.iWJO xvas forthcoming from the ! State Advances Department this month, it xvould only suffice for a little more than txvo months. He doubted if the tinal £."i(H)0 xvould be forthcoming from the State Advances Department, and it might be necessary to raise this in the open market. In any case, the money must be forthcoming within three months, xvhich xvould just tide matters over the period necessary tv take the poll and raise the nexv loan. The engineer. Mr. V. K. Powell, reported that the contractors had been working mainly in deep ground since the 1 . holidays, and, aided by the tine weather. 1 ] bad been able to get the pipes laid and < Ihe trenches refilled without trouble.
