"IN PAKLOUS PLIGHT." BECAUSE OF WHEAT SHORTAGE. Three months ago the executive of the Xew Zealand Karnu-rs' Union decided in view of the shortage of wheat, to urge the Government to allow one million bushels of wheat to be imported duty free into the North Island under license to the Now Zealand Poultry Association, until the end of February, ]92(!. A motion was before the executive on Wednesday evening to rescind the above resolution, but on the application of Mr. J. 1). Hall, of Canterbury, the N motion to rescind was withdrawn. ■Delegates present expressed the opinion that the position of the poultry farmers was most acute, and one memtier stated that "the poultry industry was going to the wall." The general opinion was that the executive should remain loyal to the poultrymen, and it was finally decided, on the motion of Mr. A. E. Harding , (Auckland), that the president be requested, together with such members as he miarht think proper, to interview the Minister of Agriculture within 10 days, and, failing some satisfactory arrangement being come to, the executive be instructed to press for the carrying out of the resolution passed three months ajro. Mr. A. G. Mumby (Poultrymen's Association) said he thought the poultrymen would be able to pay cash for the million bushels of wheat if it were landed.
