BOWLING TOURNEY.
TO-DAY'S PLAY. A WIN FOR WALKER. TONKIN BEATS BLANCHAKD. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The pairs championship contest in the Dominion Bowling Association's tournament is being continued to-day with post-sessional play at the Wellington Club's green. A strong southerly wind is blowing, and the green is slower than yesterday, due to rain which fell overnight. Eurther rain threatened this morning, but beyond a couple of slight showery has kept otf. Play is on the sudden death principle. In the first round Parker and Walker (Auckland) beat Carman and Priddle (Newtown) by 21 to 13. and Kighy and Tonkin (North East Valley) beat Coutts and Blanchard (Carlton) by 19 to 17. There was keen interest in the game between Maxwell Walker and Priddle. The score at the eightli head was: Priddle 0, Walker 2. At the next end 3 came Walker's way. but at the twelfth the hoard showed Priddle 12. Walker 6. Walker got 4 at the thirteenth end and in the next 3, which put his nose in front, lII—I 2. Frnm this on he never "looked back. Priddle notched a single at the sixteenth head, but failed to get off 13, while Walker ran his total up to 22. On at least two occasions Priddle bad a chance of getting four or five counters, but either played too fast or wide, and thus lost the opportunity to improve his position.
