EFFECT OF AIR MAIL.
INCREASED LETTER. WRITING. LONDON, January ."".. In reviewing the year's air mail activities. "The Manchester Guardian's" air correspondent points out that the service between London and Cologne dropped off on account of the improvement of ground transit. Contrasting this with the position in West Australia. he comments: "Interesting ligures have been gleaned concerning the West Australian airways. The inauguration of the air mail revived the habit of letter writing in sparslev populated areas. The aeroplane's chief recommendation is not its speed, but the ease with which it opens up country."
