TOTALISATOR RECEIPTS.
THE SUMMER CARNIVAL. TOTAL INCREASE OF £27,786. During the seven days' racing in Auckland the sum of £633,034 10/ was put through the totalisators, compared with _605",248 10/ at the previous summer carnival, an increase of £27,786.
Racing at Ellerslie contributed £422,445 10/ to the total, and trotting at Alexandra Park £210,589. The increase at Ellerslie was £14,675, and the totalisator returns at the trots showed an increase of £13,111.
The largest amount handled at L'llerslie was at the summer meeting in 1920----21, when £511.455 10/ was put through tho machine during the four days. In 1920 the sum of £190,642 was handled at the Auckland Trotting Club's summer meeting, and in 1921 it amounted to £213,108.
The Government will take £31,156 10/ in taxation from investments on the machine at Ellerslie, and £14,742 from the Auckland Trotting Club, making a total of £45.898 10/. This is in addition to taxes and stakes, etc. The following table shows the investments for the last three summer meetings:—
