The third round of the above tournament was played at Hamilton on Saturday afternoon, under wintry conditions. The play bad to be stopped every now and again on account of the. heavy showers, but. In spite of this, there were some good finishes. Hodd (Whltiora) v. Burton (Frankton Junction) proved a close game. Hodd opened with a single. Burton secured the next, and he scored up to the eighth head, when tbe game stood at 10 to 2 1n Burton's favour. Hodd took the next eight heads, and ut the fifteenth Hodd was 14—10, while at the twentieth he was one up, 16—15. When the skips went down, Hodd had two to tbe good. Burton drove, but improved his opponent's position to 4 up, and with his last drew and saved three, Hodd winning 17—15. Fuller (Xgaruawahla) v. Masefield (Walhi) played a close finish. They were head and head about to the twentieth, Fuller 18 and Masefield 16. When tbey went up to the mat Masefield bad a nice four, but Fuller drew a lovely bowl to cut out three, and finished one down, 18 —17. Fruish (Railway) v. Adamson (Thames). —The railway "boys" in this game got the first three heads tor 5. Adamson then put on a 4 and a 2. Fruish won the next two heads in 3 and 2, losing the eighth to Thameß for 3, and taking the next in 4, and on the twelfth head was 16 —9. Then Thames nicked a 4 and a 2, and on the nineteenth bead Fruish was 3 up, 21—18. By a line draw he added another one at the twentieth head. The leads and seconds well mixed the last head, and Hallway had one of an advantage when Adamson drew a nice bowl. Fruish replied with a better one, making 2 up. Adamson drove to burn but missed the bunch, Railway winning, Turton (Huntly) v. Mitchell (Hamilton.— Turton opened on the first five heads to !> up ; then Mitchell notched a 5. Turton had tbe best if anything up to the twentieth head, being Ift—ls, and lie scored on thirteen heads. Mitchell had 5 in a bunch on the last head, but the Huntly player played a pearl with his last bowl, making him 5 up. The results of the third round were:— Section A.—Carter 22, v.
