TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Ollivier, J. m seeaea E. D. Andrews, E. L. Bartleet wT Fotheringham, A. W. Sims, J T. j j renson, J. a Peacock, 0. L. £ ; A. (.. Wallace, j The seeding of Lowry is a tribute to ' an unknown quantity so far as jfew 1 Zealand is concerned, but his ' reputation in England while at Cam- > bridge University was a high one. But English tennis has been proved to be at a fairly low standard comparatively speaking, so that the estimate formed ' of Lowry by those responsible for the ' seeding may be just a little exaggerated. ' It will be about the third round that ! the real battles will commence. The I seeded players will be drawing closer together for decision. Tbe last eight ' should be Ollivier. Lowry, D. France Bartleet, Sims, Laurenson, Lampe, and L. France. It will be seen that I expect ' D. France to beat Andrews, Bartleet to beat Fotheringham after the latter has accounted for Griffiths, Sims to beat Smyth after this player has beaten Seay, and O. Lampe to beat Glanville after Glanville has accounted for J. C. Peacock. Ollivier, Bartleet, Sims, and L. France. I pick to be the semi-finalists, and Sims to beat Bartleet in the final. In the doubles the seeded players are Peacock and Sims, France and France, Lowry and Andrews, Bartleet and Bobson, Ollivier and Seay, Laurenson and Griffiths, a seeding which, on the whole is certainly a great improvement on that of singles. The last four pairs should be Peacock and Sims, France Brothers, Bartleet and Robson, and Ollivier and Seay, and the finalists, France Brothers, and Bartleet and Bobson, with the odds in favour of Bartleet and Robson. Peacock and Sims should beat Smith and Fotheringham, as this latter player is no doubles player. France Bothers by virtue of their lengthy combination, ought to account for Lowry and Andrews, and for Peacock and Sims. Wallace and Dickie, when opposed to youthful opponents of the calibre of Bartleet and Robson, may be said to be on the retired list. The Ollivier-Seay combination will depend a lot on the temperament of Ollivier, and this pair will not, I think, be a match for Bartleet and Robson. ROTORUA TOURNAMENT.
