LEG CRUSHED IN LIFT.

• —■ WELL-KNOWN ATHLETE INJURED. Mr. Fred Lintott, a young man well known in the city, especially in football and swimming circles, had the misfortune to meet with a painful and serious accident last evening. He was descending in the lift at Darby's Buildings, Queen Street, when his ankle became caught between tl» lift and the side of the well. It was* some time before the unfortunate fellow could be extricated. He was attended to by a medical man on the spot, after which he was hurried to the hospital in a St. John ambulance. To-day the patient is reported to be comfortable, but there is the unfortunate possibility lus right foot may have to be amputated. Mr. Lintott, who resides at 2S, Fairview Road. Mount Eden, was visiting the Grammar School Old Boys' Club, of which he is a member, at the time he met with his accident.
